Sunday saw the second round of matches in the Men's Division of the District League. The Hornets team was deplete due to call-offs and only 4 regulars pitched up to play. Thankfully the number was bolsted by the welcome return of Sandra, this time with the express permission of her hubbie after a debate over which of them had the worse sore foot.
Jets and Nuvoc played the first game and experience again showed with the Nuvoc team taking the match in straight sets (25-20, 25-19).
Game 2 Nuvoc v Hornets started evenly but with the score at just 5-7 in the first set, injury to one of the Nuvoc players brought a swift conclusion to the match with Nuvoc down to 4 men. Hornets winning by default 25-5, 25-0.
Game three was an early rehearsal for the Scottish Bowl semi-final and was keenly contested throughout. The first set went the way of the home team but some sloppy hitting let Jets back in to win the second. In the deciding set Hornets were always in front, eventually crossing the finishing line to win (25-20, 21,25, 15-9) |
