Scottish South East Regional League
Match vs Team Fife Away on Friday 30th May

Once again we managed to lose 3 sets to 1 against Team Fife at Glenrothes.

It's becoming a trend for us to lose 3:1.  Again very close scores (25:23 25:22 25:16 & 18:25).

We turned up with 6 players, no subs and played well, but once again put more pressure on ourselves than we should have done.  A very well contested but friendly atmosphere, so big thanks to Team Fife who also played friendlies after the match was over.

Team:  Carrie, Daniel, Jean, Mark Nas and Russ.

Friendly Match

Hornets Vs Clackmannanshire VC at home on Wednesday 29th Feb 2012

We are playing a set of friendly games against CVC who will be brringing 2 teams along.  Plan is for Hornets to put together 2 teams and play a couple of matches, the mix it up and play some more games.

Numbers allowing we are likely to try and use this as an opportunity to give the Reional League Team some more much needed.

CVFC are a recreational club so it's a good opportunity for those of us who havent played in many competitions to have a go.

We plan to start asap so those that can please get there for 19:00hrs to help set up.

Scottish South East Regional League

Match vs Volero at home on Wednesday 15th Feb 2012

Once again we managed to lose 3 sets to 1 against Volero.

A good natured match, Volero kindly provided a ref so we had more players to draw from.  Once again a slow start, we lost the first 2 sets.  Then in the 3rd we upped gear and they eased off so we won.  We served better in this set and blocking and general play was better.  They then came out strongly to win the fourth and final set.

Thanks to Carrie for scoring, and to Jean and Mark for acting as 2nd Ref.  Also to our vast array of supporters!

Team: Jean, Craig, Daniel, Jerome, Mark, Nas, Richard and Russ.

Recreational Tournament @ The Crags, Edinburgh

Sunday 12th February 2012.

We entered a mixed team in the tournament kindly organised by Dougie McLeod of NUVOC.  There were quite a few teams taking part, from NUVOC, Bass Rockets, Edinburgh uni and ourselves.

We won our half of the draw and the semi final, but unfortunately lost to Bass Rockets 2 sets to 1 having been 1:0 up.

A great day was had by all and special mention goes to Carrie for coping well with an unfamiliar rotation system.

Team:

Carrie, Evelyn, Jean, Daniel, Nas, Russ, Scott and Taj.

Scottish Plate 2011-2012

First Round vs Troon on Saturday 21st January 2012.

This year we put a men's team into the Scottish Plate Competition.  Although we got knocked out by Troon in the first round, as it was the team's second game together, it was generally felt that it was a good performance and an improvement on the previous game against Kinross.

Team:

Craig, Daniel,Mark, Nas, Russ, Scott, and Taj.
